Many local students may be heading back to school this week, but today some of their teachers are learning an important lesson.

Just in time for the start of the school year, some Pittsburgh Public School teachers are getting life-saving training with the use of portable defibrillators.

Before they go back to the classroom on Thursday, about 2,000 educators will be trained in operating this potentially life-saving equipment

So many teachers are expected to take part in today's training, that they could actually set a new world record.

The largest automated external defibrillation class to date was held in Glendale, Arizona – where 1,039 people received training.

Pittsburgh United for Life-Saving Emergencies, also known as PULSE, along with the St. Margaret Foundation is holding today's training session.

PULSE has already installed 700 defibrillators in 300 sites around the area.
